David Wenham bio
David
was born on September 21, 1965 in Marrickville, Sydney in Australia. (New South
Wales to be exact). He comes from a family which includes 5 sisters and 1 brother,
making him the youngest of 7 kids.
David recieved both a Film Critics' Circle
of Australia Nomination and an Australian Film Institute nomination for his role
in The Boys, a film he helped produce. In all, the film recieved 13 AFI nominations.
Although he is best known for his role as Diver Dan in the tv series, Seachange,
David has won AFI awards for Best Actor in both Simone De Beauvoir's Babies and
Twisted Tales, two tv dramas that helped David's fame and popularity as an actor
rise.
Not only has David made a name for himself in films and tv, but he is
quite the theater star as well. David has had roles in Hamlet, The Headbutt, Cosi,
and The Tempest with Belvoir Street Theatre, Art and Tartuffe with the Sydney
Theatre Company, and That Eye the Sky with Burning House. David even starred in
the theatrical version of The Boys with the Griffin Theatre.
This December,
David will be starring in The Two Towers as Faramir, the character whom is the
younger brother of Boromir (played by Sean Bean in Fellowship of the Ring). Based
on the popular trilogy of J.R.R Tolkien and directed by Peter Jackson, The Two
Towers will include such stars as Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood, Viggo Mortensen,
Sean Astin, and Chrisopher Lee. David will also appear in the third film, Return
of the King in 2003.
